Costa Tropcal info

Unless you are fluent in Spanish, You will have a problem here on the Costa Tropical. It is not the same as the Costa del Sol,where tourism is the norm and learning english is good for business. Hardly anyone on the Costa Tropical speaks any english and if they do they won't tell you.

If you try to learn and the locals know you are trying then they will try to help you. Some people that come to live here don't bother to even try and learn the language, they think that the locals should learn english. If you are one of these people then think for a moment, would you learn another language if most of your neibours were forign in the U.K.

I personally know people that have lived here for more than 8 years and only know how to ask for a beer in spanish.

Don't forget you will have to speak to employees at utility companies and ask for things in shops. The best way is to learn how to ask a basic question and If you need to ask for something you will only need to learn one word to add to the sentence. If you do this you will find you will learn a new word each time and it won't be long before you have a large vocabulary. The verbs take a little while to learn as do the past and present tenses but its well worth it. 

Complaining is a problem, you can't hurl the abuse you want to, unless you are fluent.

Complain all you like in english, nobody will understand you, or care about what you are saying.

Believe me you will need to complain. Almost everything you buy here is defective,broken or has something missing. I think quality control does not exist here. If it is hiding somewhere then its run by blind baboons.

The answer to this problem is easy.

LEARN THE LANGUAGE!!!!!!
